We received the following from Rick and Jane Fish:
Shaq was one of those puppies that you just know is special...Sally picked him out in the whelping box, and he did some major winning from the puppy class. He was a multiple sweepstakes winner, too. Handled to his championship by his sire's owner, Betsey Strohl, he finished at the prestigious Louisville Cluster.
After going home to do a little growing up, Shaq came back out as a special with Bruce and Gretchen Schultz just after his second birthday. He started out his specials career with a string of Group Firsts which propelled him into the top spot as the #1 Golden, all systems, which he held all last year.
In early October he dazzled the crowd and the judge at the 1997 Golden Retriever Club of America's National Specialty, going Best of Breed over the largest GRCA entry ever.
To date this year, Shaq has racked up more than 35 Group Firsts in the highly competiative California Circuits, and has brought his total of BIS's up to 10, along with several more specialty wins.
